Start The New Year Write: A Celebration of Correspondence

There is a particular tenderness in receiving a handwritten letter. Before you even read the words, it announces itself in other ways: the slant of the handwriting, the faint smudge of ink, the creases where it was folded with care. Each word is a decision, each stroke of the pen a record of thought. These details speak of the intention and presence of another soul that somewhere, paused their day long enough to sit down, take up a pen, and think of you.

In February, International Correspondence Writing Month (InCoWriMo for short) invites us to rediscover the beauty of these moments. It is not just a celebration of handwritten letters but a challenge: to write and send or deliver one letter, card, note, or postcard every day during the month. In this, the shortest month of the year becomes a season of connection– where writing is a gift that ripples outward.

In a world where communication often feels weightless, letters remind us of what it means to be tethered. The effort of writing, folding, and mailing is not a burden but a quiet joy. It says, I value this moment. I value you. It’s proof of lives once intertwined, lives that crossed paths.

At Allport Editions, we believe in the magic of these small acts. That is why we’ve gathered everything you need to take part in InCoWriMo. From beautifully designed blank cards & notecards to stationery sets and pens or pencils that whisper across the page, our collection is here to help you create letters as unique as the people who will receive them.

There is no right way to take the challenge. Write a quick note of thanks to a friend, pour your heart into a letter for someone you miss, or send a whimsical card to make anyone smile. The act itself is what matters.

As you send your letters out into the world, you may find that they bring as much joy to you as they do to the recipient. Each letter is a fragment of your presence, a small declaration that says, I was here. I thought of you.

This February and beyond, let’s fill mailboxes with love and connection. Take the InCoWriMo challenge, and let the handwritten letter remind us all of what it means to reach out, to hold on, and to leave something beautiful behind.

Sincerely, Team Allport
