We're thrilled to carry handmade cards by Loaded Hips Press, created by local Portland artist and former Allportian Shannon Buck. Shannon’s work centers on preserving and passing on the vibrant traditions of letterpress, a type of relief printing in which type and wood engravings are inked and pressed into paper with rollers, and other forms of historic printmaking—with a modern touch. In addition to beautiful digital reproductions of her designs, many of the cards by Loaded Hips Press are handmade from carved linocuts (a type of print block), and individually printed on a letterpress from 1910 in the haunted downstairs of an old Portland waterfront warehouse.
